It has many variants like a lot of recipes that use giloye, munaka, cumin seeds, mulethi, etc. But this is the simplest version since all the ingredients are easily at home. My grandmother gave it to us, passed it to my mother, and I give it to my kids.

THE PROCESS :
For half glass – only make FRESH*
1 cup water
3-4 Basil leaves
1 tsp – Grated Ginger
1 tsp – Grated Turmeric
1 tbsp – Rough powder of ( 5 cloves, 1/2 inch cinnamon stick, 7-8 black pepper, 1/2 tsp carom seeds, 2-3 cardamom )
Boil all the ingredients on a slow flame until the water becomes half. Serve the water hot with a dash of honey ( or jaggery ). You can also mix hot milk in this water and drink it like a warm soothing tea. Do give it a try.
